Responsibilities Regularly performs the duties of the Respiratory Therapist II and assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures. Serves as a technical resource for the respiratory therapists regarding assistance with such procedures. Works with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Can perform the duties and responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist II. Assists physicians with all pulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Provides in-service education to staff regarding diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures performed in operative and procedural areas. Maintains inventory of bronchoscopic supplies and accessories. May assist in the training (after competency completed and on file) for designated respiratory therapists to assist pulmonologists and surgeons in the endoscopy/operating room setting with such procedures as transbronchial needle aspirations, argon plasma coagulation, tumor debridement, pulmonary dilatation, pulmonary valve placement, pulmonary stent placement, and robotic bronchoscopy. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to manager and completes incident reports.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited respiratory therapy/care education program.
  • Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from Georgia Composite Medical Board.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Must hold American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Life Support credential (PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units including ACCS or RPFT.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
