The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Public Works Maintenance Worker I, Public Works Maintenance Worker II or Public Works Maintenance Worker III classification. The hourly rate for the Public Works Maintenance Worker I is $18.81 per hour; for the Public Works Maintenance Worker II is $19.75 per hour; and for the Public Works Maintenance Worker III is $20.74. Summary of Duties: Under close supervision, the Public Works Maintenance Worker performs light to heavy manual labor to repair and maintain City of Plano infrastructure within streets, alleys, easements and Rights of Way. Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the entry-level classification in the Public Works Maintenance Worker series. The incumbent follows routine procedures and guidelines in the application of prescribed duties and works under close supervision. This classification is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II and III in that the latter performs more complex technical duties requiring a higher level of knowledge and skill. Public Works Maintenance Worker II Summary of Duties: Under regular supervision, the Public Works Maintenance Worker performs light to heavy manual labor to repair and maintain City of Plano infrastructure including water lines, sewer lines, streets, sidewalks and alleys with the City's easements and Rights of Way. Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the mid-level classification in the Public Works Maintenance Worker series. The incumbent follows routine procedures and guidelines in the application of prescribed duties and works under close supervision. This classification is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker III in that the latter performs more complex technical duties requiring a higher level of knowledge and skill. Public Works Maintenance Worker III Summary of Duties: Under minimal supervision, the Public Works Maintenance Worker performs light to heavy manual labor to repair and maintain City of Plano infrastructure including water lines, sewer lines, streets, sidewalks and alleys within the City's easements and Rights of Way. Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the advanced classification in the Public Works Maintenance Worker series. The incumbent plans detailed methods to attain desired objectives working within established policies. Methods require use of initiatives and resourcefulness in developing processes and procedures. Works under indirect supervision, conferring with supervisor on unusual matters.
