Under the general supervision and direction of the Flood Control & Irrigation Supervisor and/or Crew Leader, performs general operations and maintenance tasks on flood control and canal irrigation systems through Sandy City. See full job description CLOSING DATE: Open until filled. Department will begin reviewing applications on 12/19/25. Position may close at any time after this date. However, applications will continue to be accepted until position is filled. STARTING SALARY: $20.08/hour STATUS: Regular (benefitted) DEPARTMENT: Public Utilities SUMMARY: Under the general supervision and direction of the Flood Control & Irrigation Supervisor and/or Crew Leader, performs general operations and maintenance tasks on flood control and canal irrigation systems through Sandy City.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.
Must possess a valid Utah Driver’s License
Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of hire
Must obtain a Utah State Flagger Certification within two years of hire
Must be certified by the department on all assigned crew equipment within two years of hire.
Knowledge of tools and small equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and construction of irrigation or storm water systems helpful.
A one-year probationary period is a prerequisite to this position.
Moderate responsibility for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment, and tools.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Regular use of hand tools.
Regular use of pickup trucks, limited use of dump trucks and front loader.
Prioritize tasks; establish effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Able to perform basic operations with little or no supervision.
