The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Assistant General Counsel, providing legal advice, analysis, and response for the Department's office of Health care Regulation activities and administrative litigation. Acts as Department attorney in administrative hearings, including the preparation of notices, motions, complaints, orders and similar legal documents and in the presentation of oral and written evidence at such administrative hearings. Prepares legal recommendations, impact analysis statements for the in preparing bills and interpreting bills introduced into the General Assembly, and in developing rulemaking for the Agency. Acts as liaison with Attorney General’s Office in administrative review actions. At the direction of supervisor, does legal research and renders opinions regarding legal issues. Receives and responds to subpoenas, works with programs to gather responsive documents, tracks receipt and response dates. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
