The City of Grand Junction Public Safety Volunteer Program is designed to supplement and support the staff of the Police and Fire Departments in their mission to safeguard the community and enhance its quality of life. Public Safety Volunteers assist first responders in numerous ways, including supporting office staff, assisting with educational programs, working in the field, and hosting community events. Volunteers are considered an integral part of the daily work. Exciting fieldwork opportunities include the Neighborhood Speed Watch Program, Fire Safety Classes, Building Tours, Fleet Transport, Compression only CPR demonstrations, and Community Patrol. Office opportunities are available in Records, Investigations, Crime Lab, and administrative offices within both departments. Volunteering provides an opportunity to give back to the community, learn new skills, and become part of a close-knit group of first responders. Opportunities are available for adults of various ages and abilities, with flexible commitments ranging from a few hours a month to several hours each week.
