About The Position

Okta is seeking a driven communications pro to join our Corporate Communications team. We are searching for a PR maven with a passion for building and trendjacking newsworthy stories and a strong background in media relations, thought leadership, and content creation – with a focus on security and product storytelling. In this role, you will partner with key stakeholders across the company to share Okta’s vision and impact with the world.

Requirements

• Five to eight years of communications and PR experience; agency and in house experience is a plus
• Expertise in pitching journalists and producers, and landing meaningful stories; cybersecurity and AI experience is a plus
• An understanding of Okta’s business and experience working with technology companies
• Passion for the tech and business media landscape and a strong sense for what makes a story newsworthy
• Strong writing skills with a distinct POV
• A detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple high-profile projects and deliverables
• Willingness to travel a couple of times a year

Responsibilities

• Support Okta’s media relations efforts, including writing pitches, press releases, blogs and other content focused on security and technology.
• Help shape Okta’s tech and security narrative with proactive PR efforts and announcements, focused on media relations and securing media coverage.
• Lead global media events strategy for earned media and how we highlight Okta’s latest innovations.
• Be a relationship builder for Okta with reporters, producers, and influencers
• Support development and evolution of Okta’s narrative and executives’ external thought leadership platforms tied to security and technology.
• Support broader team on media issues management, inquiries and response
