About The Position

Public Policy Researcher (DHS-Dedicated) Are you interested in working on current and emerging immigration policy issues? Do you want to apply your education and experience to help government agencies improve the way they develop and implement immigration-related regulations, policies, and programs? Our Regulatory, Policy, and Economics portfolio has over 30 years of experience supporting the design, implementation, and improvement of federal programs and is seeking a policy researcher to join them. This full-time position will be focused on supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on immigration-related issues and programs. LOCATION: The position will be located on-site in client office in Washington, DC. There may be allowance for periodic telecommuting. This role is available immediately. Ideal candidates will combine a detail-oriented approach and effective organizational capabilities, excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, and equally strong research, and writing skills to work with our clients in DHS to support their development and implementation of policies and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Public Affairs, Human Services, Social Sciences, Government or Policy Studies, or similar.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience supporting policy research and analysis, regulatory or administrative policy support, public policy, immigration policy, Government affairs, public administration, or federal programs.
  • U.S. citizenship is required by federal government contract.
  • This position requires a Public Trust security clearance. Applicants will be subject to a government security investigation to obtain clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Interact directly with clients within DHS
  • Immerse oneself rapidly in varied immigration-related tasks and projects
  • Assist with efforts to draft, route, and track the assignment of tasks and correspondence among DHS team members and staff
  • Draft and edit documents (e.g., policy documents, briefings, presentations) for client review
  • Attend intra-agency meetings and working groups
  • Provide verbal and written progress updates to client and ICF staff
  • Provide other administrative support to DHS, as requested
