The Public Health Pathways Program (PHPP) offers an internship opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in public health within the Minneapolis Health Department. This program aims to diversify the public health workforce, provide early exposure to the field, and create pathways to employment for aspiring public health professionals. Interns will support their assigned division, engage in training, and develop essential skills while contributing to meaningful projects.

  • Collaborate with supervisor to complete assigned projects and tasks, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Participate in regular check-ins with supervisor to discuss progress, challenges, and goals.
  • Attend scheduled division and department meetings to stay informed and contribute to team initiatives.
  • Engage in training sessions and discussions on public health topics to enhance knowledge and awareness.
  • Develop and refine technical skills in tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Attend all in-person events, including site visits and other related activities, as needed for the role.
  • Must be enrolled at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college, university, or graduate program; or must be a recent graduate with a degree conferred between February 2024 and January 2025.
  • Must be able to commit to a part-time schedule of at least 6 hours per week for a duration of 20 weeks.
