About The Position

This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor. Responsible for providing routine public health nursing services under the protocol of the Health Department’s Tuberculosis Program. Pay Grade: 52H

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of generalized registered nursing experience; and an AD/Diploma from an accredited School of Nursing; OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited registered nursing program.
  • Active, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee, or an application for license transfer to TN must be in process for consideration.
  • Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one by date of employment.
  • Must have access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
  • Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, and training credentials throughout the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Respiratory health, outpatient clinic, or case management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, monitors, and manages tuberculosis patients using the nursing process and program protocols, including risk assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment in accordance with CDC and Tennessee Department of Health standards.
  • Provides case management and follow-up services to ensure continuity of care, treatment adherence, and quality tuberculosis-related health services.
  • Implements diagnostic and treatment interventions under established public health guidelines and program-specific protocols for patients requiring tuberculosis services.
  • Educates and counsels individuals, families, and groups on tuberculosis prevention, treatment, and health maintenance in a variety of community and clinical settings.
  • Documents clinical care and program data in medical record systems and reports relevant findings to supervisors to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and program requirements.
  • Coordinates referrals and community linkages with SCHD programs and external medical providers to ensure patient health care needs are met.
  • Participates in quality improvement, staff development, and program support activities, including training, mentoring, inventory support, and assigned specialty or oversight functions.
  • Performs assigned public health emergency preparedness and response duties, including required training and participation in drills and disaster response activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.
