About The Position

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Identify, execute, and assess programs to engage employees in civic involvement including but not limited to advocacy efforts and industry initiatives. Assist with monitoring of all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements to ensure company activities are in compliance and company interests are protected. Help identify and research legislative and regulatory issues relevant to the business through issue tracking and regulatory monitoring. Must be able to read complex legislation and regulations and summarize for key members of management. Assist with the development and implementation of the company’s sustainability strategy and priority areas, based on internal business needs, external trends, and best-in-class benchmarking. Assist with development and production of annual sustainability report. Monitor trends/changes/best practices in the Sustainability-arena and assess their impact on the company. Work with functional groups to constantly update data compiled and policies to reflect new developments in sustainability. Share updates and implications of changes with management. Build and maintain relationships with leaders across business, manufacturing, government, trades, and other functions. Participate in advocacy activities with legislative, regulatory, and trade associations to optimize impacts related to the company’s goals and objectives. Assist with Company communications efforts such as employee newsletters, press releases, social media posts, and white papers. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Experience in government relations/regulatory compliance arenas. Oil and gas industry experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong editing skills a plus.
  • Good understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at the federal, state, and local level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public relations, mass communication, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in government affairs or regulatory compliance preferred.
  • This role typically operates in an office environment but could require up to 25% travel to field shop locations.
