PT IT Applications Development Intern
About The Position
Maryland Auto Insurance seeks candidates to fill a part-time, contractual role in our Internship Program within the IT-Applications Department. This is a part time position with a maximum of 29 hours per week for 8 weeks this summer starting June 8, 2026. This position is hybrid with both virtual and in office work. The candidate will be required to come into the office a minimum of once per week. Wednesday(s) will be a required in office day for educational lunch and learn sessions. The IT Applications Intern will report directly to the IT Applications Senior Manager providing direct support via software development, analysis, and application enhancement efforts to the various departments throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Pursuit of bachelor's degree or equivalent professional certification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or related disciplines.
- College-level experience with software development languages like Java, C/C++, Python, or others.
- Experience with business tools like Windows, Microsoft Office, Visio, or similar.
- Energetic and enthusiastic attitude, willing to try new things, fail fast mindset
- Analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team oriented, ability to meet deadlines and contribute to team success
Responsibilities
- Work with a project team to develop software in an Agile development environment
- Participate in the software development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing
- Build enhancements to existing underwriting and claims applications
