About The Position

Pawsperity opened its doors in January 2016 as the country’s only nonprofit grooming school. Our mission is to empower families to become self-reliant through job training, life skills, and practical solutions to end their cycle of poverty. Position Purpose: The Education Coordinator supports the Director of Grooming in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum for Pawsperity's dog grooming school. This position involves fostering an environment that is both supportive and challenging, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students from various backgrounds. The Education Coordinator upholds professionalism and ensures a positive learning experience, incorporating creative and responsive teaching practices to engage students of all learning styles and abilities. This role requires adaptability to evolving organizational needs and an ability to contribute effectively to the overall mission of Pawsperity. The position operates on a regular Monday-Friday schedule (8:00am to 1:00pm), with occasional work outside of regular hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience with classroom administration
  • Occasional lifting up to 50lbs
  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries
  • Ability to express oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others as well as through professional, written communication

Responsibilities

  • Software Operation and Administration
  • Co-administer the Moodle software relevant to all Learning Management System (LMS) features and integration to include initial and ongoing setup of the system
  • Co-administer the OpenSIS software relevant to LMS and transcript processes to include initial and ongoing setup of the system
  • Administrative
  • Maintain course syllabi relevant to program status and changes, updating educational objectives and hour requirements as needed.
  • Communicate any changes to syllabi to the Director of Student Services to ensure seamless integration with the Student Catalog(s)
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Student Catalog(s)
  • Administer Pawsperity’s LMS, teach the system(s) to faculty and staff, ensure fidelity to the processes, and facilitate student use
  • Collaborate within administration of the TABE testing with the Admissions & Recruitment Specialist, communicating testing outcomes as soon as they are available, identifying which of the test takers are eligible/ineligible
  • Collaborate with Power Skills coordinators
  • Maintain and update the attendance tracker on a regular basis to ensure records are organized and current.
  • Assist the Compliance Officer with organizing, filing, and maintaining student records to ensure files are complete and properly stored.
  • Support preparation of student files for review, audits, or reporting as directed.
  • Faculty Development
  • Assist in development and delivery of professional development opportunities for program faculty
  • Ensure 65% of faculty development opportunities are based in classroom management, teaching methodology, adult learning, behavioral interventions/de-escalation, establishing rapport, group dynamics, or similar topics aimed toward improving student engagement and learning
  • Curriculum Development & Instructional Support
  • Assists The Director of Grooming in the development of the grooming school curriculum
  • Provides support to instructors as needed in the classroom
  • Consistently demonstrates creative, responsive teaching practices to engage students of all learning styles and abilities
  • Adheres to Pawsperity’s training schedule as approved by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development
