This position is assigned to Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI), Veterans Health Indiana (VHI). The PCMHI position at this time is based at any VHI location that also provides Primary Care services but may need to provide services at other Veterans Health Indiana sites via video technology. The PCMHI team works in a fast-paced, primary care setting. The PCMHI psychologist functions as part of the interdisciplinary primary care team, serving Veterans, Primary Care Providers, and allied Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) members. PCMHI provides services for a wide range of concerns, resolving problems within the primary care service context. PCMHI provides functional assessment and brief intervention, with the aim of population based, preventative care. Our aim is to see Veterans the same day they see a PCP, normalizing meeting with the team psychologist as a routine primary care service. The primary goals are assisting PACT team members with identification, treatment, and management of mental health and behavioral medicine conditions in the Veteran population. This position is designated as the PCMHI Program Manager. Duties and responsibilities in that role include, but are not limited to: Our PCMHI staff provide education to PACT members on behavioral health issues as well as consultation on tips for successful care management, even when there is no direct patient contact. Typical shifts will match the primary care clinic's hours (e.g., 0730-1600 or 0800-1630), though occasional extended hours may be required. When properly credentialed and licensed, the incumbent will operate independently in all areas, consulting with peers and supervisors when warranted.
