About The Position

The Psychologist II supports the clinical, educational, and research initiatives of the Integrated Behavioral Health Program in the Department of Primary Care and Rural Medicine including interdisciplinary clinical care across the lifespan in medical settings. May provide supervision for doctoral interns, graduate students in counseling or clinical psychology, and graduate assistants

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP).
  • One year full-time post-doctoral clinical experience in college or university counseling center or other relevant setting.
  • Licensed in the State of Texas as a Licensed Psychologist.
  • Must maintain licensure for continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Services Provides mental health counseling as well as crisis intervention to individuals, couples, and groups.
  • Administers and interprets psychological tests/inventories, makes referrals, and manages various organizational and administrative aspects of counseling cases.
  • Provides career and personal counseling to individuals, couples, and groups, assessments, crisis intervention, and psycho-educational presentations.
  • Flexes schedule to provide additional clinical services including appointments, outreach, crisis, and other duties as needed.
  • Documentation and Compliance Meets ethical obligations for timely documentation of counseling services per state licensure requirements and policies.
  • Seeks consultation from peers and leadership for difficult clinical cases per state licensure requirements.
  • Participates in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions and maintenance of skills in one’s professional specialty area.
  • Consultation and Outreach Provides consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Provides outreach presentations for students, faculty, and staff members about counseling services and professional development topics.
  • Engages in applied research and evaluation activities.
  • Supervision and Training Provides weekly supervision and training including review of recorded sessions and case review for doctoral interns and/or practical students.
  • Delivers training sessions for predoctoral psychology interns, psychology practicum students, licensed professional counselor interns, and staff.
  • Administrative Duties Serves on departmental committees and meetings, division and university committees, and other university functions.
  • Assists with organizational and administrative tasks assigned by the director of the Integrated Behavioral Health Program.
  • Professional Development Publishes and/or disseminates the results of research and evaluation efforts.
  • Participates in professional association activities including provision of professional presentations at conferences and workshops.
