About The Position

Position is located in the Psychology Department, 8:00a-5:00p, days/hours may vary. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment. All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion. The person in this position will be responsible for psychological duties for assigned cottages. These duties include completion of yearly psychological evaluations, data collection and analyses, consultation to treatment teams, and other duties assigned by either the Director of Psychology or Program Coordinator. The essential functions of this position require a person to be able to accurately observe behavior in others to carry out assessment, treatment, consulting and staff training functions; must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with residents, staff, colleagues, and supervisors either directly or through personal contact, via the telephone or in written format. Parsons State Hospital is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.

Requirements

  • Eligible to be registered or licensed to practice as a psychologist in Kansas.
  • Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.
  • Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services.
  • Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable in developmental disabilities, mental illness, applied behavior analysis, essential lifestyle planning, resident support programs; must display experience in providing consultation and facilitation services to consumers.
  • Master's degree in psychology or completion of a program of study acceptable to the KS Board of Behavioral Sciences which would meet educational requirements to become a registered or licensed psychologist, or masters level psychologist, in Kansas.
