About The Position

The Early Connections Program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles provides mental health services for infants and young children and their families. The Licensed Psychologist I will provide mental health evaluation and treatment for children and families in the Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit (NICCU). May provide individual and group supervision to pre- and postdoctoral psychology trainees. Teaching duties include didactic presentations; community presentations; and participation in staff/supervisor meetings at which teaching & training programs are developed.

Requirements

  • Supervised professional experience providing therapy to children and their families is required.
  • Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D., in School, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology; prefer education from an APA-accredited program.
  • Licensed Psychologist in the State of California or license eligible where applicants must have received completed their licensure by their anticipated start date.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing mental health evaluations and treatment for children ages 0 - 3 highly preferred.
  • Previous experience within a medical setting is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the various psychosocial aspects of commonly referred medical conditions is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising trainees is preferred.
  • Training in Child-Parent Psychotherapy or other relationship-based interventions for young children is strongly preferred.
  • Strongly prefer bilingual competence (Spanish/English).
  • Prefer endorsement as an Infant-Family Mental Health Specialist with the California Center for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health.
