The University of Maryland (UMD), University Health Center (UHC) seeks a full time psychiatrist for its Psychiatry And Substance use Services (PASS) division. This is an onsite, in-person position in College Park, MD, with the possibility of one day of telework per week after an initial period, at the discretion of the Director of PASS based on the department’s business needs. This is a full time exempt position and it is considered essential for the purpose of being available during university emergencies and closures. The psychiatrist will provide direct patient care to a diverse student population at the College Park campus. The psychiatrist will conduct psychiatric evaluations and provide intake assessments, ongoing medication management and follow-up, and therapy (as appropriate), and will be available for consultative work with other departments as needed. Conducting urgent triage of students who are seen at the UHC is also part of these responsibilities. The psychiatrist will work with other UHC departments as needed, including general medicine/primary/acute care, women’s health, gender affirming care, sports psychology, etc. The psychiatrist will partner with colleagues in the Counseling Center and other university departments to collaborate on shared patients, consult on mutual patients, and offer urgent student evaluations as requested by these departments. The psychiatrist will be expected to meet the assigned productivity standards. The psychiatrist will be expected to carry a full patient census during their regular clinical schedule. For a 1.0 FTE psychiatrist, this is defined as 32 hours based on a 40-hour work week, with 8 hours provided each week for administrative time. Typically the service is busy during the academic year (September - December and February - May) and slows down over the summer and during winter and spring breaks. Currently, a full-time position would entail working from 8:30-5:00, Monday - Friday. However, at times, patient care may extend beyond regular duty hours to address patient needs. The psychiatrist is expected to participate in equitable evening and weekend call with the other psychiatric providers on our team. While extremely rare, in-person duties may be required during call duties.
