About The Position

Overview Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting a psychiatrist to provide on-site Psychiatry Physician services to eligible beneficiaries of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center primarily located at 2002 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, TX 77030. In addition to the main medical center, providers may be required to rotate to affiliated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) as needed. Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • No history of restriction, suspension, or revocation
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
  • BLS and ACLS certification (current)
  • DEA license (active)
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) (active or obtainable)
  • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
  • All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care to Veterans
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning
  • Manage and follow up on patients with serious mental illness
  • Admit, treat, and discharge patients as appropriate
  • Perform E‑consults and post‑discharge follow‑ups
  • Ensure patients are seen within VA‑required timeframes
  • Collaborate with VA mental health staff and interdisciplinary teams
  • Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with VA policies
  • Provide discharge education and follow‑up instructions
  • Participate in peer reviews, case reviews, and quality evaluations
  • Communicate test results in compliance with VA directives
  • Attend required staff meetings, program meetings, and town halls
  • Participate in Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement (QA/QI) activities
  • Complete required performance and patient safety documentation
  • Report patient safety incidents within required timeframes
  • Assist with scheduling and emergency mental health coverage planning
