Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist supports individuals in developing skills and enhancing the functioning necessary to promote community living. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist works to foster positive social, emotional, and educational development, facilitating inclusion and integration, and assists individuals in pursuing their goals within the community.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/equivalent
  • 1+ years’ experience in Behavioral Health setting
  • For work with children: · 1+ years’ experience in children's Mental Health, addiction and/or Foster Care services;
  • For work with adults: 1+ years’ experience working in Substance Use Disorder and/or Serious Mental Illness services
  • Certified as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP)
  • Trained on the Individual Placement and Support Model
  • Ability to work amongst diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
  • Good written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and have some knowledge with using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with children, adolescents and adults in their home and community environments providing rehabilitation interventions and individualized, collaborative, hands-on training to build developmentally appropriate skills.
  • Aid with social and interpersonal skills, along with promoting coping strategies and effective functioning within one’s social environment.
  • Improve self-management of the negative effects of symptoms that interfere with the individual’s daily living, with supporting the development of day-to-day competencies and the routines necessary to remain in the home, school, work, or community environments.
  • Work to re-establish social skills (interpersonal relationships, conversation and communication, social etiquette, and anger management) and re-achieve developmentally appropriate functioning.
  • Documents all services provided both timely and accurately.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
