Requirements

• Current Missouri RN license in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with electronic medical records
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Compassionate approach to patient care

Nice To Haves

• Previous correctional or forensic nursing experience
• Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Certification (PMH-BC)
• Crisis prevention/intervention training
• Experience with substance abuse treatment
• Spanish language proficiency a plus

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor for effectiveness and side effects
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary
• Document patient care according to regulatory and institutional standards
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions
• Educate patients about mental health conditions and treatment options
• Ensure compliance with security protocols while delivering compassionate care
