Requirements
- Current Missouri RN license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Compassionate approach to patient care
Nice To Haves
- Previous correctional or forensic nursing experience
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Certification (PMH-BC)
- Crisis prevention/intervention training
- Experience with substance abuse treatment
- Spanish language proficiency a plus
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for effectiveness and side effects
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary
- Document patient care according to regulatory and institutional standards
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions
- Educate patients about mental health conditions and treatment options
- Ensure compliance with security protocols while delivering compassionate care
