About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric & Mental Health Technician to support patient care in a behavioral health setting. This role involves providing both direct and indirect care to patients while ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment under the supervision of nursing staff.
Requirements
- Experience working with psychiatric or behavioral health patients (within the last 2 years preferred)
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in a psychiatric setting
- Monitor, record, and report vital signs and patient conditions
- Assist with patient admissions and documentation
- Support physical examinations and collect specimens as required
- Monitor patient intake and output
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene and mobility
- Transport patients safely within the facility
- Orient new patients to unit routines and regulations
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients
- Intervene during crisis situations and ensure patient safety
- Perform regular safety checks and maintain a secure environment
- Communicate patient updates promptly to nursing staff
