About The Position

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MHNP) Arrowhead Behavioral Health Functions within the collaborative agreement arranged with the Nurse Practitioner (NP) and psychiatrist. The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (MHNP) working in the Inpatient and outpatient care areas will provide advanced psychiatric care to patients experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. This role involves a psychiatric evaluation and assessment to determine the appropriate level of care for patients based on American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria, diagnosis, medication management, therapy, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery. In addition, PMHNP may perform psychiatric evaluations and medication management to patients in the Partial Hospitalization Program, the Intense Outpatient Program or the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) on an as needed basis, not more than 10%-15% Arrowhead Behavioral Health is a 48-bed private, free-standing psychiatric hospital located in Maumee, OH. Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
  • Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in State of Ohio is required.
  • DEA required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience as an CNP in mental health required with a minimum of 1 year of experience in substance use disorder treatment or recovery services.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in psychiatric care.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatments for mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Ability to establish rapport with diverse patient populations, including those with co-occurring disorders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered and trauma-informed care
  • This individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Diplomacy and discretion are essential, as well as excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance required.
  • Position requires the ability to work productively and independently.
  • Must follow the security and confidentiality guidelines as well as the policies and procedures of Arrowhead Behavioral Health.

  • Experience working in an outpatient or experience from community-based mental health setting is preferred.
