About The Position

We are looking for a compassionate, experienced PMHNP with an unrestricted license in California and prescriptive authority with controlled substances. You will be working directly with clients receiving treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring conditions. This role is an opportunity to join one of Orange County’s most progressive and reputable rehab companies! Our psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner will fulfill a wide variety of responsibilities to ensure the best care for our clients. You will conduct physicals, screen incoming patients in an outpatient program, prescribe medications, order refills and order labs. You will have weekly clinical appointments with clients. As our PHNMP, you be the general resource for medical questions a provide the medical perspective to our team of clinical team of case managers and therapists.

Requirements

  • Experience in the treatment or mental health field. Experience with detox, residential or outpatient recovery preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) drugs such as suboxone, naltrexone and sublocade.
  • Ability to function independently with regards to most clinical decision making.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to explain medical processes and medications clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills and ability to utilize EMR system and document effectively. Able to type and view computer screen, operate office equipment and sit for long periods of time.
  • PMHNP with prescriptive authority with at least 12 months experience.
  • Unrestricted California RN, NP and Furnishing licenses; ANCC PMHNP Board Certification
  • Negative TB test within the past 60 days
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and/or random drug screenings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in treatment industry and addiction medicine a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Screen incoming PHP clients by performing psychiatric and physical assessments. Including evaluation of mental status, current psychiatric symptoms, and functioning, as well as psychiatric and other relevant health histories.
  • Prescribe medications and order refills for clients. Provide ongoing medication management.
  • Provide and coordinate referrals for specialty medicine. Order labs.
  • Conduct weekly appointments with clients. Provide client education on mental health diagnoses, treatment plans, and medication usage. Monitor and modify treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with a interdisciplinary team to ensure and enhance patient care.
