The Opportunity The Psychiatric APC will provide oversight, clinical consultation and direct care that includes crisis, deescalation, prescribing, management. The role provides care to patients under the direct supervision of a board eligible or board-certified physician. The services provided falls within the scope of overall practice by the Nurse Practitioner including evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with medical and psychiatric disorders. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree Nursing required
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure required
  • 3+ years of Nurse Practitioner experience treating complex care adult psychiatric patients required
  • Experience working with patient populations with substance use disorders required

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical services including evaluation, diagnosis and treatment to patients.
  • Documents each clinical visit in the medical record on the day of service.
  • Contributes to treatment plans and discharge summaries.
  • Participates in team rounds and other clinical meetings, and helps coordinate all treatment and discharge planning.
  • Oversees appropriate medical care & prescribes medications.
  • Meets with families for clinical discussions as needed.
  • Communicates with referring sources, primary care physicians, and other community providers.
  • Attends program and hospital administrative meetings as required.
  • Complies with all hospital clinical and administrative policies.
  • Participates in utilization management, risk management, and quality assurance activities.
  • Provides supervision of medical trainees, nursing trainees, and others as appropriate.
  • Facilitates integration of medical services with other clinical program services.
  • Will attend supervision by supervising Psychiatrist MD.
