About The Position

Sierra Tucson is seeking an experienced PRN - Psychiatric Certified NP or PA to join our hospital‑based psychiatric team. This physician will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to adult inpatients, including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, crisis intervention, and treatment planning in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Since 1984, Sierra Tucson, a 183 bed facility, located in Tucson, Arizona has been a world-class leader in residential treatment and maintains a high standard of excellence for individuals aged 18 and older, who are struggling with drug & alcohol addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring disorders such as disordered eating. Overview: Responsible for the provision of medical services to patients. Responsible for conducting assigned aspects of the medical care of patients as allowed by state license guidelines. Responsibilities include medical management of patients at all levels of care provided by the clinic. Conduct complete physicals and provides necessary education, referral and follow-up services to patients. May, in some cases, prescribe medication as allowed by state regulation. Requirements

  • Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant, from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 1 year previous experience in behavioral health facility/clinic preferred
  • No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment
  • Licensed to practice in the state in which the facility operates.
  • DEA license.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team.
  • Participate in the formulation of patient Master Treatment Plan
  • Assess physical and psychiatric health of patient and formulate measures to meet patient needs.
  • Chart clinical observation (direct or through dictation), evaluations and treatment of patient in required time according to facility guidelines.
  • Communicate with physicians and other staff as necessary to provide quality care for patient within appropriate guidelines.
  • Encourage family involvement in patient care. Respond to identified patient and family educational needs.
  • Support and follow legal requirements, hospital policy and procedures, medical staff bylaws and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide services that are in accordance with the state guidelines for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Provide on-call responsibilities on scheduled basis directed by medical staff.
  • May focus on health promotion and disease prevention. May order, perform or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays. May prescribe medication.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
