About The Position

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Provider Recruiter is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing effective sourcing and recruitment initiatives designed to ensure there is a stable and consistent workforce of key clinical staff including primary and specialty care physicians and providers within Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS), affiliated practices and to assist other practices within the community as directed. This position works closely with the GSHCS CEO, VP of Physician Clinics, VP of Nursing and Medical Staff Services department. This position is responsible for participating in the alignment of sourcing and recruitment activities to support the strategic direction of the organization. Position is responsible for all matters related to Physician and Provider recruitment and employment. This position requires travel as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Required: Two (2) years’ experience working in Physician Recruitment or a related physician relations position.
  • A combination of education and equivalent experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of professionals in a team environment.
  • Must be organized and possess the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high degree of efficiency.
  • Must be able to work under minimum supervision while exercising a high degree of initiative, creativity, and willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Standing/walking 10% of the time; sitting 90% of the time; lifting and carrying 10% of the time and able to carry up to 20 pounds. Pushing/pulling 5% of the time; bending, stooping, twisting 5%. of the time; reaching and handling 5% of the time. Climbing stairs 5% of the time (Elevator available).
  • Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices.
  • Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients and public.
  • Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing, computer input.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or ability to obtain Staff Physician Recruiter and/or Fellow Association or Staff and Physician Recruiters certification within two (2) years is preferred.

  • Responsible for the management and successful completion of entire Physician/Provider recruitment process. Coordinates the initial and on-going contact with applicants.
  • Completes the assessment and screening of applicants. Ensures completion of reference checks.
  • Arranges for travel for prospective candidates for interviews and site visits. Schedules candidates for interviews with appropriate stakeholders. Plans the entire site visit and coordinates concierge services during the visits.
  • Solicits and records any comments/issues from the candidate and interviewers. Answers questions and provides closure for follow up items as needed.
  • In collaboration with the President and Chief Medical Officer, coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of systematic, ongoing Physician and Provider recruitment strategies and initiatives by working with stakeholders to ensure strategic goals and objectives are realized for the organization.
  • Initiates and executes sourcing plans and activities to ensure the needs and requirements of the organization are achieved. This includes establishment of relationships with medical students, residents, fellows and currently practicing Physicians and Providers throughout the country.
  • In conjunction with the marketing and Communications department, coordinates advertising and public relations strategies, to include special events, related to Physician and provider recruitment. Responsible for sourcing candidates using the most advanced methodologies to achieve cost effective and efficient recruitment processes.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and presents market information and perspectives to assist in development of Physician and Provider recruitment initiatives. Based on market data, prepares, and distributes recruitment ads using a wide range of media types, venues, and sources.
  • Identifies, develops, implements, and maintains long term relationships with external locum agencies to effectively expedite locum coverage as efficiently as possible. Negotiates locum agreement rates and contract terms, coordinates, and maintains oversight of expenses related to locum companies as well as any details related to locum coverage.
  • Oversees preparation of appropriate recruiting documents. Prepares offers of employment and responds to inquiries related to the terms and conditions of employment.
  • Maintains accurate statistics for monitoring and reporting of recruiting data that will be used by management to aid in decision making and to provide direction on Physician and Provider strategies and related matters.
  • Maintains and reports on recruiting status and progress as required.
  • Participates with Senior Leadership to develop effective compensation and recruitment strategies.
  • Participates in acquisition of existing medical practices as requested.
