By providing patients and internal and external stakeholders with a consistent, efficient, and easy experience, you’ll help ensure that patients at The Oregon Clinic receive the highest value care tailored to their needs. Using excellent customer service and communications skills, your primary duties in this role include: Supports TOC’s coding training and development objectives through assessment, mentoring, education, monitoring, and coaching. Responsible for the coordination and execution of coding educational programs and works with Revenue Cycle Coding Leadership, Compliance, and operation leaders, preceptors, and the entire coding team to identify and meet training needs, evaluate training effectiveness. Promotes coding excellence and provides training opportunities that contribute to coding accuracy and overall understanding of coding guidelines. Monitors areas of high risk identified through internal risk assessments and the OIG work plan. Develops, implements, and provides coding education and materials based on CMS coding guidelines, payer policies, and annual CPT changes. Tracks and develops a coding education dashboard. Identifies and tracks areas of risk and need for auditing. Collaborates with Compliance on identified trends. Provides new provider coding education and onboarding coding support. Stays abreast of State, Federal and organizational policies, procedures and systems. Monitors coding of medical records for accuracy. Compiles, analyzes, and presents data related to coder performance, documentation issues, and charging errors. Coordinates physician education needed to improve documentation standards for quality, timeliness, and completeness. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years multispecialty coding and/or auditing experience is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) years of experience working directly with providers, providing feedback and guideline education is required.
  • Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) EPIC experience is required.
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic.
  • Positive attitude and desire to be a team player.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members.
  • A commitment to patient-focused care, privacy, and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in medical coding education or in a relevant field is strongly preferred.
  • EPIC certifications are a strong plus!
  • Certified as one or more of the following: Certified Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based (CEMC), and/or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, work independently, and effectively multitask.
