Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. The Hardware Engineering directorate leads in the design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation. The Bike Shop is seeking a Lab Lead to manage and implement engineering lab strategic projects and day-to-day administrative functions within multiple engineering labs, with specific focus on safety, security, and compliance using established doctrine and governance. You will be creative and innovative, possessing strong organizational, coordination, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills. In the position, you must be able to collaborate with customers, employees, and senior leaders when implementing processes and procedural changes. This position is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ. Travel as needed to support mission and program execution.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • Experience in an engineering lab environment area such as safety, security, compliance and/or property management

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical/electronic skills
  • Experience with OSHA/NFPA industrial policies and regulations
  • Experience with working directly with engineers, technicians, and leadership in an engineering lab environment in the areas of safety, security, compliance, and property management
  • Experience with EHS, NISPOM, JAFAN and Foreign Object Elimination
  • Ability to build positive, lasting relationships with customers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Responsibilities

  • Lab Operating Procedure (LOP) Management; provide direction for lab users on established policies
  • Management, coordination and implementation of Environment Health Safety and Sustainment
  • Property & Metrology Management including maintenance of equipment service contracts and ongoing equipment repairs
  • Oversee audit/assessment preparation.
  • Overseeing Engineering Lab Objective Evaluation and Voluntary Protection Program; develop corrective action plans and assist in the development of long-range objectives, including engineering customer goals
  • Safeguarding of classified/proprietary material, hardware, and documentation, utilizing defense material/property under Export Administration Regulations
  • Develop and implement communication plans, providing consulting support to functional and engineering customer management
  • Work to influence stakeholders within and outside responsible area at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures
  • Work autonomously with limited oversight; provide professional input, guidance, and problem solving
