About The Position

About This Role Ensure the safety and security of the corporate environment across all areas of the campus. Act as a liaison between corporate visitors and employees, fostering a welcoming and secure atmosphere. Represent the Loss Prevention Department through positive, professional interactions with employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors. Communicate effectively using both verbal and written channels to support security operations and incident documentation. Monitor and enforce corporate security policies using computer-based CCTV and access control systems. Resolve situations calmly, tactfully, and with sound judgment. Remain poised and prepared to recognize and respond to any immediate threat to life safety. Take decisive action to stop an active threat when necessary. Serve as the first responder to all life safety incidents until emergency personnel arrive on scene. Identify and respond to active assailant scenarios with urgency and precision. Maintain readiness through rigorous training and adherence to emergency response protocols. Applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive screening process, including: o Background check o Psychological evaluation o Drug screening o Occupational physical performance test o 20-hour firearms training certification

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years armed law enforcement, armed military, or armed guard experience required
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively, and to determine proper course of action to be taken.
  • Take and successfully complete assessments including physical agility, psychological and handgun proficiency, periodically
  • Undergo complete criminal background investigation prior to employment
  • Experience in de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to develop skill in the use and care of firearms, O/C, handcuffs, radio use
  • Good general intelligence and emotional stability
  • Must meet Fit for Duty requirements including being able to always maintain physical, psychological and handgun standards while on duty
  • Must provide 20-hour firearms training certificate (in lieu of law enforcement or military experience)
  • CPR/AED/FIRST AID certification from a nationally recognized source required
  • Strong computer skills, (Windows, C-Cure, Outlook, multi-screen CCTV, I-Lobby)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (phones and computer-based programs are main source of communication)
  • Ability to work flexible shifts.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • On-going security and safety training and active assailant training

Nice To Haves

  • Military experience, law enforcement experience, associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Corporate security experience preferred
  • Prior knowledge of criminal investigations and evidence preservation
  • Prior Rapid Deployment training
  • Experience assisting Human Resources with high-risk terminations

Responsibilities

  • Monitor access points and campus activity using CCTV and access control software to ensure security compliance.
  • Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the facility to identify safety concerns and enforce security protocols.
  • Respond to and verify all alarm activations, ensuring swift and appropriate action.
  • Manage security clearances for employees, contractors, and visitors using the access control system-assigning, editing, and verifying credentials.
  • Confirm employment status for individuals who have lost or misplaced their identification badge.
  • Track and verify updates related to employee terminations and new hires to maintain accurate access permissions.
  • Operate a two-way radio using approved, professional communication protocols.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally-both verbally and in writing-with fellow Protective Services Officers (PSOs) and supervisors regarding unusual activities or incidents.
  • Monitor visitor management and CCTV systems to anticipate daily visitor arrivals and assist with check-in procedures.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to all visitors, ensuring meeting hosts are promptly notified and following up when necessary.
  • Apply Loss Prevention Best Practices and utilize Ace Hardware equipment to identify and respond to active threats.
  • Inspect all assigned equipment daily for operational readiness and report any malfunctions immediately to the Loss Prevention Supervisor.
  • Participate in annual active assailant training, including a review and update of Best Practices to maintain tactical readiness.
