Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience in power system protection, including relay settings and coordination.
  • Experience applying substation design standards for protection and control systems.
  • Experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Experience with protection and automation relays, systems, and applications.
  • Experience with short-circuit software such as CYME, CAPE, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and industry practices related to power system protection and reliability (e.g., NERC PRC standards).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups
  • Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies
  • Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations
  • Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases
  • Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings
  • Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems
  • Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
