About The Position

PART TIME PROSECUTION ASSISTANT Flexible schedule. Seeking someone to preferably assist 5 days a week, part-time (25-29 hours/week), during regular business hours of 8 am – 5 pm. GENERAL SUMMARY : Position involves corresponding with the public, law enforcement agencies, city personnel, and witnesses, and assisting with various administrative tasks and functions related to misdemeanor criminal prosecution on behalf of Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, Millcreek, and Brighton cities.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications may include graduation from high school or equivalent; plus two (2) years of specialized training specific to the legal secretary field or four (4) years of legal related experience.
  • Valid Utah Driver’s License is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbally and in writing (including grammar and spelling)
  • Ability to learn existing procedures and organizational system and take direction/feedback graciously
  • Ability to work independently and on a team, take initiative and to multitask and prioritize, often under pressure and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, organized and systematic
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, agencies and the public.
  • Professional appearance, reliable, with a good attendance record
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and Outlook email/calendar.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with E-Prosecutor preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, such as answering phones, preparing letters, as well as legal tasks, including general prosecution case management, case file creation, filing documents and pleadings, copying, scanning & faxing documents, and sending above via email or USPS.
  • File Management: control and maintain legal documents and digital files in an organized Manner.
  • Scheduling appointments and court hearings for the prosecutor.
  • Screen and review police reports.
  • Pulls case files to prepare for hearings and trial.
  • Update files to reflect current case disposition.
  • Respond to discovery requests.
  • Coordinate court calendar, policy officers and attorneys.
  • Be able to prioritize various projects based on deadlines.
  • Perform general court record research.
