As an FBM Propulsion Engineering Manager located in Titusville, FL you will lead personnel and provide technical and program management leadership in support of the program. The successful candidate will be a full spectrum leader, will build lasting partnerships with our Navy counterparts, will focus on financial and strategic objectives, and will work closely with a range of other leaders on FBM. This FBM Propulsion Engineering Manager will manage a specialized team of engineers/scientists and multiple suppliers supporting FBM operational, production, development, and advanced programs. The FBM Propulsion Engineering Manager will be responsible for a wide range of propulsion products and programs including first, second, and third stage boost motor manufacturing modernization, age management, deployed system support, and critical safety programs. Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to establish a positive culture of teamwork, employee satisfaction, and productivity.
  • Technical Bachelor of Science or higher degree combined with experience and/or specialized training commensurate with the position
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplined technical team with demonstrated leadership and customer intimacy capabilities
  • Experience leading and providing oversight to subcontractors and suppliers
  • Experience as a control account manager or the equivalent demonstration of business acumen
  • Experience in multi-year planning, including labor and non-labor elements and staffing strategies
  • Proposal development experience – including labor cost estimates, statements of work generation, negotiations and cost review
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel to subcontractors, customers, and Naval support facilities (domestic)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and evolve an organization
  • Experience with Failure Review Boards (FRBs), Material Review Boards (MRBs), and technical investigations and/or as a previous Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) or CPE Delegate
  • Experience with energetics (e.g. solid propellants)
  • Experience on FBM processes and products
  • Experience with 3D Structural Modeling and/or Analytical Software (e.g. Pro-E/CREO or Matlab) in support of Model Based Engineering initiatives
  • Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement, agile and systems thinking concepts
  • Full Spectrum Leadership experience including a commitment to the Full Spectrum attributes of shaping the future, building effective relationships, energizing the team, delivering results, and modeling personal excellence, integrity and accountability
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Support all facets of team leadership including cost, schedule, and technical execution of program scope
  • Build organizational talent and engagement while managing staffing needs including resource management, hiring, career planning and counseling, training, critical skills management, mentoring, coaching and rewards/recognition
  • Shape the future of the program through digital transformation and model-based engineering vision and initiatives
  • Planning, executing and reporting on issue investigation, closure and design change efforts
  • Engineering project management including managing: subcontractors, suppliers, Basis of Estimates (BOEs), technical evaluations, proposals and negotiations, tracking and development of cost and schedule
  • Timely resolution of technical issues and on-time, on-cost delivery of production-driven design changes (i.e., corrective actions and producibility improvements)
