How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own GDIT is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Proposal Writing Intern with a strong interest in technology and a passion for persuasive writing. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys researching complex topics, distilling technical information into clear and compelling content, and contributing to high-impact business development efforts. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, intellectually curious, and eager to gain hands-on experience in federal proposal writing.

Requirements

  • Strong research skills, with the ability to synthesize information from various sources to support proposal content.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with managers and members of your team.
  • Be self-aware enough to identify and correct your mistakes and not be afraid to ask for help when needed.
  • Prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams).
  • Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in English, Communications, or a related field from a United States-based college or university.
  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an ability to grasp and articulate concepts succinctly.
  • Ability to interpret solicitation documents (SOWs) and help ensure compliance with proposal requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of fundamental IT enterprise concepts (e.g., cloud, infrastructure, software development), with the ability to follow technical discussions and convey concepts in proposals.
  • Basic understanding of federal acquisition processes and terminology (e.g., FAR, proposal volumes, LCATs), or a strong willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in crafting concise, solution-focused responses, primarily supporting IT enterprise acquisitions in areas like Software Development, Data Science, Systems, and Cloud Engineering.
  • Assist in conducting research and integrating content from technical SMEs, past proposals, and publicly available sources.
  • Manage the entire proposal process, including timelines and submission requirements.
  • Assist in final production of proposal content, to include editing and formatting.
  • Work with internal and external writers that include teaming partners, subject matter experts, project managers, and solution architects to produce proposal content.
  • Assist in developing staffing matrices for proposal submissions, including mapping labor categories, estimating level of effort, and aligning personnel qualifications with project requirements to support competitive and compliant bids.
  • Support the development of cost volumes for proposal submissions, including gathering pricing data, preparing cost models, and ensuring alignment with solicitation requirements, pricing strategies, and compliance standards.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
