Burns Engineering is an award-winning engineering firm headquartered in Center City Philadelphia that provides professional design and construction management and design/build services. Our well-respected reputation of customer service and technical quality spans 60years. We are currently seeking a Proposal Writer Intern to join our office in Philadelphia, PA for the summer of 2026. Our proposal team customizes booklets that describe our skills and experience for the view of prospective clients. This position would work with our in house technical proposal team to write, edit, and organize employee resumes, project information sheets, and technical proposal booklets. Assists with production and activities for the preparation of proposals for engineering services. Assists in the collection of information to prepare proposal responses, submissions, presentations, and other related activities. Follows the established procedure for photographic, proposal, and firm credential files.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, English, Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism or a related degree from accredited college or university
  • 0-2 years internship experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook; MS PowerPoint Presentation software; MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sr. Proposal Associate to compile and respond to current and potential clients’ request for proposals.
  • Assist in the preparation of project fact sheets for new and substantially complete projects.
  • Proofread proposal text and maintain high proposal quality.
  • Work with graphic designers to incorporate graphics, layout formats, and other graphic techniques for easy to read, professional looking documents.
  • Assists in proposal writing and presentations.
  • Assist with updating corporate qualification/experience documents.
  • Produces regularly scheduled reports.
  • Participates in new market research.
