About The Position

If you are an Engineer with experience in control systems and/or process operations, Emerson has a great opportunity for you! We are looking to add a Proposal Engineer - Water & Renewable Energy to our Cranberry Township, PA office. You will own the creation of highly competitive, strategic, and develop project-specific proposals for the North America Water and Renewable Energy Proposals organization. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or similar technical degree. Equivalent Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Knowledge in controls and PLC/DCS/SCADA technologies, 3rd party integration, applications and interfaces, industrial networking, instrumentation, and processes associated with water and renewable energy plants
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years experience in control system engineering and proposals preferred
  • 10 years of water and wastewater treatment industry experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all aspects of proposal preparation and approvals are executed accurately, completely, on time, ethically, and in accordance with PWS quality procedures.
  • Prepare control system proposals in response to customer requests for proposals in the North America Market under direction of the Proposal Manager.
  • Receive customer inquiries and interpret customer specifications and drawings for technical proposals.
  • Participate in customer site visits, walk-downs, meetings, presentations, and interviews, delivering Emerson products and services capabilities and differentiators to help capture the business.
  • Apply process and product knowledge when preparing technical proposals.
  • Develop best cost solutions to meet customer needs and ensure competitive positioning.
  • Develop bills of materials, technical compliance, layout drawings, and all other required proposal documentation.
  • Accurately estimate project costs.
  • Prepare pre-qualification submittals and supporting marketing collateral to position Emerson favorably to win future business.
  • Interface with other departments in North America, Costa Rica, and other world areas.
  • Work effectively with sales, product development, engineering and project personnel.
  • Effectively present costs, risks, and differentiators to key decision makers.
  • Prepare responses to customer inquiries and requests for changes.
  • Support negotiations with customers.
  • Review purchase orders to ensure they accurately reflect the proposal.
  • Prepare and submit order entry paperwork.
  • Support internal and customer kick-off meetings.
  • Provide assistance in the development of the commercial proposal strategy that mitigates project commercial risk exposure and best positions the execution team to allow scope and profitability growth.
