About The Position

The Props Master is responsible for sourcing, building, and crafting all stage props for the Wolf Trap Opera summer season. The Props Master will work closely with the Technical Director, Director, and Designer to plan and deliver all rehearsal and finished props. Candidates should have strong organizational skills and be able to work independently. Sensitivity to budgeting, asset management, and artistry is critical to this role.

Requirements

  • Prior props experience
  • Strong knowledge of theatrical production.
  • Competency with excel.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working directly with artistic staff and the Technical Director to plan, procure, and execute all stage props for the season’s productions.
  • Maintain a props budget, report spending to the TD & Director of Production.
  • Lead the Props Crew.
  • Mentor the Props Apprentice.
  • Attend rehearsal as needed.
  • Assist with strike.
  • Help to restore the Barns at the end of the season.
