About The Position

The Properties Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting operations for a portfolio of properties and joint ventures. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains compliance with GAAP, and supports business decision-making through timely and reliable financial information. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, collaborative, and experienced in property or real estate accounting. This role is expected to take on increasing responsibility by applying a more managerial approach to daily accounting functions, particularly Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Initially, these tasks will be more hands-on as we transition responsibilities and realign supporting roles, with the expectation that oversight and delegation will increase over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with a preference for real estate or property management experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, AppFolio, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with a preference for real estate or property management experience

Responsibilities

  • Daily invoice entry, coding, and processing
  • Manage weekly check runs and vendor payments
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and Certificates of Insurance (COI)
  • Work directly with vendors to resolve billing issues
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes for all property entities
  • Perform complex account reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, and fixed asset accounts
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records for each entit
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policie
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for individual entities and consolidated reporting
  • Assist with the Owner Distribution calculations as required by entity operating agreements
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and monthly variance analysis
  • Support year-end audits and tax preparation processes, including 1099s and year-end tax reconciliations
  • Coordinate accounting activities across multiple joint ventures
