About The Position

The Project Handyman provides hands‑on support for construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects across the property. This role focuses on assisting project execution through installation, finishing, repair, and site preparation work, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. Unlike routine maintenance roles, this position is primarily project‑based and supports the Engineering Projects Supervisor and contracted trades.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, minimum required
  • 2+ years of experience in construction, renovations, facilities projects, or handyman work
  • Working knowledge of: Carpentry, drywall, painting, and finishes Basic electrical and plumbing concepts Safe use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow plans, instructions, and project schedules
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Available to work different shifts and days, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Constructs, inspects, measures, repairs, maintains and dismantles structures, furniture, woodwork and other related item such as doors, folding walls, windows, ceilings, tile, gypsum board and hardware to ensure a safe, attractive and well-maintained facility.
  • Performs shop work, receives lumber deliveries, and cleans and maintains workshop.
  • Constructs signs, props and banners and hangs artwork, etc. as needed.
  • Assists department in fulfilling other roles as needed.
  • Assist with hotel renovation, remodel, and improvement projects, including guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house, and exterior spaces.
  • Perform hands‑on tasks such as: Demolition and site preparation Patching, painting, and finishing work Light carpentry and millwork installation Door, hardware, fixture, and FF&E installation Flooring preparation and touch‑ups
  • Support project staging, material movement, and cleanup to maintain timelines.
  • Assist skilled trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry) under supervision.
  • Perform basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks within permitted scope.
  • Read and follow project drawings, layouts, and work instructions as provided.
  • Ensure work areas are properly prepared and protected before and during projects.
  • Identify workmanship or material issues and report them to the Projects Supervisor.
  • Complete assigned punch‑list items and finishing details.
  • Maintain project documentation as required (checklists, completion sign‑offs).
  • Follow all engineering safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and hotel standards.
  • Use tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
  • Maintain clean, secure, and hazard‑free work sites at all times.
  • Support compliance with brand standards and local codes.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Housekeeping, and Operations to minimize guest impact.
  • Provide support to Engineering during major project periods as assigned.
  • Assigned, as needed, to general maintenance work and shifts
  • Represent the Engineering team professionally in guest‑adjacent areas.
