About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Project Structural Engineer based in Orange, CA . This role builds analytical and design skills. Conducts engineering design under the limited supervision of an experienced engineer. Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the limited supervision of an experienced engineer. Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems. Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision. Potential projects come from a wide variety of industry sectors including entertainment, commercial, industrial, parking structures, government, and detention. Engineer will work collaboratively with more experienced engineers on large projects and be give the responsibility to lead/work independently on smaller structural design projects and tasks. Independently manage small to medium size projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering and 4 years of experience; or equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Demonstrated experience applying all major structural design codes.
  • Demonstrated experience using 3-D structural analysis software. (examples include ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, and SAFE)
  • Experience designing in Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Timber
  • Experience with Wind and Seismic lateral design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in use of REVIT/AutoCAD to provide production support as a portion of team support and development
  • US Citizenship is required due to federal contract/security requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science (with structural engineering concentration)
  • Professional License in California (PE)
  • Experience with performance-based design
  • Experience with ASCE 41 for retrofit of existing structures

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design
  • Coordinate work with other design disciplines and prepare contract documents
  • Construction administration - Author structural reports, assessments, and studies
