About The Position

UPMC is hiring a full-time Project Specialist to support ongoing projects and initiatives for the central Graduate Medical Education office. In this position you will work Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm. Projects will include working on administrative tasks, reporting, and accreditation needs for the Graduate Medical Education office and training programs. There will be opportunity for a hybrid schedule based on business needs and performance following a 90-day training period. Prior experience working in Graduate Medical Education is preferred but not required.

Requirements

  • B.A degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related field and 2 years of experience preferably in a health care setting.
  • OR Associate's Degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related field and 4 years of experience preferably in a health care setting.
  • Knowledgeable in the organization and function of an academic medical center this would include clinical and physician's office practices.
  • Exhibit good listening and comprehension skills.
  • Complete work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Present effective interpersonal skills in dealing with executive leadership, clinical department administrators, managers, etc.
  • Ability to take the initiative to investigate and resolve problems using sound judgment.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding job assignment and sensitive issues, perform assigned work in allotted time.
  • Identify issues before they develop into major concerns and demonstrate analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in Graduate Medical Education is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with oracle database function and capabilities is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships between Project Specialist and department administrators, site administrators, practice manager, and other users.
  • Populate existing data fields; oversee design of new data fields as needed.
  • Initiate relationships with other business units to maximize effectiveness of database.
  • Initiate accreditation tasks and program improvements for GME Training Programs
  • Identify program needs and confer with Central GME office on strategies to optimize FTE
  • Maintain accreditation standards and other yearly program onboarding processes
