About The Position

The Project Specialist Informatics provides leadership, consultation, and direction for information technology that impacts clinical and nursing information management from planning through evaluation. The Project lead serves as a bridge between the clinical practice, technology, and information management to enhance patient care primarily through their informatic lead roles in enterprise projects that focus on technology optimization and innovation. This includes a focus on assessment of comprehensive data, involvement of key stakeholders in formulating action plans, implementing plans in partnership with healthcare team members, and leading the evaluation of system usage. The role also involves demonstrating informatics leadership by providing direction, input, and assuming responsibility for presenting knowledge, coordinating work assignments, and participating in organizational shared decision-making. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Nursing Informatics Practice, ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses provide the basis for practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of comprehensive data to derive the problem as defined by the clinical situation using evidenced based practice and structured analysis techniques
  • Includes appropriate prioritization and escalation as needed
  • Monitors EHR clinical documentation efficiency metrics EHR and best practice use cases across the industry for proactive identification of opportunities and innovative approaches
  • Involvement of key stakeholders in formulating an appropriate action plan and identifies expected outcomes based on the assessment and issue
  • Serves as informatics lead for enterprise projects and contributes to the development of scope documents and charter
  • Implementing the plan in partnership with the healthcare team members in a timely manner, utilizing evidenced-based interventions specific to the situation
  • Employs change management techniques to support the clinical end user with the transition and adoption of information technologies
  • Plays a key role to the development and testing of new applications, or enhancements to existing applications
  • Evaluates the use and usability of the product from the viewpoint of the enduser
  • Tracks progress and status of enterprise projects and shares updates internally and with appropriate leadership forums
  • Leading the evaluation of system usage in the work environment to support workflow and to inform system design
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary project teams, vendors, and technical teams to ensure the goals of the practice are achieved
  • Facilitates the use of data to evaluate outcomes and determines any iterative changes or project completion based on data as applicable
  • Demonstrating informatics leadership by providing direction, input, and assuming responsibility for presentation of knowledge, expertise and findings related to specific field of interest
  • Coordination and work assignment for implementation of enterprise projects to local level as appropriate
  • Participation in organizational shared decision-making situations, including formal governance committees, that improve informatics practice, clinical practice, organizational performance and outcomes
