Day in the Life of an AEP Intern: Assist project managers or project controls personnel with planning, scheduling, tracking, and coordinating project activities. Maintain, update, and organize project documentation, schedules, and status reports. Support development and monitoring of project schedules, milestones, and action items. Assist with preparing budgets and basic financial tracking for projects. Participate in project meetings, take meeting minutes, and help track follow-up actions. Support risk, issues, and change management activities by documenting as needed. Prepare presentations and reports to communicate project status and performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and construction management. Visit construction sites to support project activities. Gain familiarity with Company organization, departmental functions, and interrelationships. What we’re looking for: Education: Completion of at least sophomore year in a 4-year program in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or Business with Project Management focus at an accredited institution. Graduation date of December 2026 or later. Must be at least 18 years old. This position is not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT. Willingness and ability to relocate for the summer to one of our engineering internship locations, if necessary. In addition: Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with project management tools is a plus. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Physical demand level is sedentary. Report directly to the project management or project controls unit responsible for supervising assigned projects. Report administratively to AEPSC Personnel Department – Employment Section or other approved system group. Preferred: Minimum 3.0 GPA. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interest in the electric utility sector, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices. Effective time management skills.
