The Project Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining critical project schedules to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of major capital improvement projects across the Metrorail system. This role provides expert guidance on schedule performance, time impact analyses, and corrective actions that support the execution of complex engineering and construction programs within defined financial and technical parameters. Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive Critical Path Method (CPM) master schedules for entire Metrorail line segments or all projects under the annual Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget. The Project Scheduling Engineer monitors schedule progress, identifies potential delays, and advises project leadership on schedule adherence—an essential component for contract payment approvals and performance evaluations. This role also reviews and evaluates time entitlement claims, assessing the impact of delays and changes on project timelines to support fair and timely contract modifications. When required, the Project Scheduling Engineer recommends alternative or recovery schedules to mitigate delays, advising Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders on strategic scheduling solutions. The position requires strong analytical skills, technical proficiency with scheduling software, and the ability to interpret complex project data. The Project Scheduling Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining schedule integrity, ensuring accountability, and supporting WMATA's mission to deliver safe, high-quality infrastructure improvements on time and within budget.
