About The Position

The Project Pricing Coordinator is a key resource responsible for providing pricing solutions to customers through the sales and commercial channels. This role involves utilizing information resources regarding customer needs, historical data, market conditions, and internal targets to prepare pricing quotes and/or internal proposals. Additionally, the specialist manages internal guides for operations to coordinate shipments based on desired pricing outcomes.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent working knowledge of ocean freight pricing terminology.
  • Experience in negotiating ocean freight pricing and trucking rates agreements/contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including basic MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel.
  • Safely and successfully performs the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged period of time in office environment, desk setting
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics or equivalent level of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate accurate and competitive quotes for project cargo clients, considering all transport modes (ocean, road, rail, barge, cranes, terminals, etc.)
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to gather necessary information for pricing proposals and provide tailored solutions.
  • Negotiate pricing with carriers and manage price quotes to customers, performing cost analysis as needed.
  • Maintain backup data for quotes to ensure efficient handover to operations and develop relationships with carriers and other partner vendors.
  • Present bid packages, follow up on quotes, and provide competitive feedback to sales and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure rate filing requirements are met to company standards and organize rate filings efficiently, managing extensions, reductions, increases, free time special requirements, and commodity-specific pricing.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of freight consolidation and container loading and perform freight cost analysis, reading ocean freight rates, and general bill of lading terms.
  • Maintain pricing databases in the system, attend important vendor/carrier meetings, and contribute to discussions with meaningful data and input.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the pricing process, addressing inquiries and providing updates as needed.
  • Attend client meetings, conferences, and occasional travel to job sites as required.
