About The Position

Midnight Sun is seeking an on-site Project Manager in support of a federal contract providing Animal Husbandry Support services to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) at Research Triangle Park in Durham, North Carolina. The Project Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive oversight of all project operations and personnel matters in support of the contract, ensuring all contractual requirements and deliverables are met in a timely and compliant manner. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. The Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between the client and the company, facilitating clear communication and coordinated execution of project objectives. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and requires reporting to work during inclement weather or emergency events, or providing coverage on nights and weekends, as needed or directed. Background : The Animal Husbandry Support Contract for NIEHS provides care, maintenance, and technical services for laboratory animals, seven days per week, including weekends and holidays, for 72,000+ square feet of laboratory animal facility space, which includes outside ancillary support areas, including a separate facility located approximately one mile from the main facility. Midnight Sun supports the care and maintenance of the animals, the sanitation of equipment, technical training, and the general maintenance of the facilities in such a manner to maintain the highest level of Accreditation from the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, International (AAALAC).

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience in an animal facility.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience in the management of operations in highly populated rodent facilities.
  • A strong understanding of the requirements for AAALAC accreditation and site visits and the NRC Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (the Guide).
  • Working knowledge of electronic facility management systems, preferably eSirius.
  • Knowledge of government contracting procedures and regulations.
  • High proficiency with productivity software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain client site access and badging requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the oversight of multiple supervisors and facilities, and/or multiple functional groups is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct on-site management and oversight of the project/contract.
  • Supervise and manage staff resources, ensuring appropriate allocation and performance.
  • Ensure achievement of established performance objectives and contract requirements.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage all required contract deliverables in accordance with timelines and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Oversee and maintain the project health and safety program.
  • Implement and sustain a continuous improvement and staff training program.
  • Provide management guidance and leadership to the Assistant Project Manager and Supervisors.
  • Meet with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on a weekly basis, or as required.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure overall project success.
