About The Position

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering and testing projects that support sustainable infrastructure and environmental solutions. This role ensures that all project activities are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with client and regulatory expectations. The Project Manager works closely with technical staff, field personnel, and clients to deliver high-quality results, manage budgets, and support operational excellence across geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3 + years of experience, preferably in the AEC industry
  • For non-degreed candidates: 7-10+ years of experience in construction materials testing (CMT) and inspection.
  • Certifications in relevant inspection or testing areas preferred (e.g., ACI, ICC, ATTI, Nuclear Safety, CTQP Asphalt Plant, ACI Aggregate Testing Technician, ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.) and ability to interpret technical specifications
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-specific platforms (e.g., project management, data reporting systems).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and work in diverse environmental conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and interface with clients and regulatory bodies effectively

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects from proposal through completion, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.
  • Develop project estimates, proposals, and scopes of work in collaboration with technical and business development team.
  • Coordinate and assign resources, including field technicians and support staff, to ensure project needs are met efficiently.
  • Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients to manage expectations, address issues, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Promote positive contractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors instilling this philosophy in the project team at all times.
  • Track project financial performance, including cost control, revenue forecasting, and profitability analysis.
  • Provide technical oversight and ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, ICC), specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read/understand project plans and specifications.
  • Perform or supervise field inspections, construction materials testing, and special inspections when needed.
  • Review and approve timesheets, reports, and client documentation; ensure timely submission of project deliverables.
  • Ensure special inspections/ threshold forms are submitted to the client in a timely manner.
  • Approve invoices prior to billing team sending them to clients.
  • Support employee development through training, mentorship, and performance feedback; participate in hiring and onboarding.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to company safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with identifying add-on or follow-on work opportunities through client engagement and field visibility.
  • Prepare reports and technical documents for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, laboratory, safety, and operational teams.
  • Attend on-site and branch meetings, when required.
  • Support lab needs such as: Performance or coordination of construction materials testing on materials such as flowable fill, aggregate, reinforcing bars, masonry, and asphalt.
  • Coordination and scheduling of laboratory testing assignments.
  • Performing, and/or coordinating others in, timely calibrations and maintenance of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.
  • Maintaining documentation of equipment maintenance and calibrations for compliance with AASHTO Accreditation Program requirements, including internal and external audits.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
