The Project Manager leads cross-functional projects focused on strategic purchasing localization within the U.S. manufacturing scope and capital improvements to support production expansion. This role manages the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned projects—including global supplier sourcing, capex planning and execution, and subsidiary coordination—to deliver on-time, on-budget outcomes that meet operational, quality, and compliance requirements. The position has no supervisory responsibilities but requires strong influence, stakeholder alignment, and disciplined project governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field required.
  • 5–8+ years of project management in a manufacturing environment, with a track record of capital projects and supplier localization/global sourcing.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple plants/subsidiaries and managing cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects on time and on budget with measurable operational and financial outcomes.
  • Proficiency with MS Project (or equivalent), Excel/Power BI for reporting, and collaboration tools (Teams/SharePoint).
  • ERP experience (SAP/Oracle or similar) for capex tracking, POs, and material master/vendor onboarding.
  • Familiarity with APQP/PPAP, validation protocols, FAT/SAT, and EHS/OSHA compliance for capital equipment and facilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and vendor negotiation skills.
  • Analytical and financial acumen (ROI/NPV/IRR, TCO, should-cost).
  • Risk management, problem-solving, and change management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; executive-ready reporting.
  • Results-driven, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple concurrent projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent; Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Governance
  • Plan, execute, and close projects using stage-gate or PMO methodologies; develop project charters, RACI, schedules, cost baselines, risk registers, and communication plans.
  • Drive cross-functional teams (Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Finance, Legal, EHS, IT) without direct authority to achieve project objectives.
  • Establish KPIs (schedule adherence, budget variance, cost savings, PPV, OEE impact, payback/NPV/IRR) and report progress via dashboards.
  • Strategic Purchasing & Supplier Localization
  • Lead global supplier sourcing initiatives to localize strategic categories in the U.S., reducing risk, lead time, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Run RFx (RFI/RFQ/RFP) processes, should-cost analysis, and supplier selection in alignment with quality, ESG/EHS, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with subsidiaries for technology transfer, dual-sourcing, tooling, quality plans (e.g., APQP/PPAP where applicable), and ramp-up readiness.
  • Negotiate commercial terms in partnership with Procurement/Legal; ensure contract execution aligns with project objectives and risk controls.
  • Capital Projects & Facility Expansion
  • Develop capital project scopes (URS/FS), budgets, and schedules for facility upgrades, utilities, production lines/cells, tooling, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Oversee capex approval packages (business case, ROI/payback/NPV), vendor selection, and installation/commissioning with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Coordinate site readiness (layout, EHS permits, OSHA/NFPA/NEC compliance, utilities, IT/OT integration), FAT/SAT protocols, and handover to operations.
  • Manage change control, documentation, and training for operators/maintenance; secure reliable spare parts and service agreements.
  • Risk, Quality & Compliance
  • Identify and mitigate risks (supply continuity, schedule, cost, technical, regulatory); maintain active risk register and contingency plans.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, SOX where applicable, safety standards, and relevant U.S. regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and import/export controls.
  • Partner with Quality to embed control plans, FMEA, capability validation, and PPAP (if applicable to automotive/aerospace/regulated industries).
  • Financial & Data Management
  • Track project budgets, forecasts, and accruals; manage purchase requisitions, POs, GR/IR, and capitalization in ERP (SAP/Oracle or equivalent).
  • Deliver structured reporting to leadership (Director of Operations and stakeholders), highlighting critical path, decisions needed, and corrective actions.
  • Drive savings realization (cost avoidance, PPV reductions, logistics optimization) and capture benefits in alignment with Finance.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management
  • Facilitate steering committee updates; align plant leadership, procurement, engineering, and subsidiary teams on milestones and deliverables.
  • Manage vendor performance (OTD, quality, service levels) and escalate issues with structured remediation plans.
