About The Position

Schaefer Plastics is seeking a mid-level Project Manager to drive internal projects and process improvement initiatives across our injection molding operations. This is a technical, hands-on role focused on enhancing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in injection molding, lean manufacturing, and cross-functional collaboration. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with engineering or technical project leadership experience who enjoys identifying inefficiencies, solving problems, and delivering measurable results in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Minimum 5 years of project management or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in injection molding or plastics.
Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; MS Project or similar project management tools is a plus.
Must be willing to travel occasionally based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

PMP or Six Sigma certification is a plus
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a technical manufacturing setting
Working knowledge of automation or control systems is a bonus

Responsibilities

Lead and manage internal projects focused on process optimization, cost reduction, and operational improvements.
Define project scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables in collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.
Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure on-time delivery of milestones.
Partner closely with internal departments, including Manufacturing, Sales, IT, and Controls, to execute initiatives.
Use lean manufacturing principles to drive improvements in quality, output, and productivity.
Identify and escalate project risks, resource constraints, or changes in scope.
Track and report on project status, resource allocation, and timelines to leadership.
Contribute to building a continuous improvement culture throughout the plant.
Support documentation and standardization of processes post-implementation.
Ensure internal project hand-offs are smooth and support long-term adoption.
