Project Manager – EPC Power Plant (Gas/Coal/Steam) QISG/Power Gen is seeking experienced Project Managers with a strong EPC background in power generation projects, specifically gas-fired or coal-fired facilities, including combined-cycle, simple-cycle, and other thermal plants. Location: Flexible, with a preference for Birmingham, AL (relocation assistance available)Travel: Up to 50% to project sites and the Birmingham officeOpenings: Mid-Level and Senior-Level About the Opportunity Quanta is leading a multi-billion billion EPC Power Generation program to deliver reliable, efficient energy infrastructure supporting one of the nation’s largest data center clients. This landmark initiative is part of Quanta’s Total Solutions Power Generation Platform, addressing the explosive growth in power demand driven by AI expansion, industrial load, and data center development.We’re seeking experienced Project Managers with proven EPC power plant backgrounds — specifically in gas-fired. 👉 Please note: We are not seeking candidates whose experience is limited to substation, T&D, or grid-only projects. This role requires direct experience in power generation facility construction — ideally combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or other thermal plant projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • EPC project management experience in gas-fired or coal-fired power generation, required.
  • Prior combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or thermal power plant construction experience required.
  • Strong command of project controls, cost forecasting, and construction execution planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline teams and deliver projects safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% nationwide and to the Birmingham AL office.

Nice To Haves

  • Renewable or hybrid generation (solar, wind, or BESS) exposure is a plus.
  • Prior EPC experience supporting utility-scale or industrial clients (data centers, manufacturing, or high-load consumers).

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of EPC project execution for large-scale gas power generation facilities — from design through commissioning.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk to ensure safe and successful delivery.
  • Coordinate across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning disciplines to maintain alignment on deliverables and execution strategy.
  • Engage with clients, and internal teams to ensure seamless communication and project transparency.
  • Oversee project financials, reporting, forecasting, and change management.
